"The greatest wealth is health." ~Virgil

May 29th, 2011.  Memorial day weekend.  Of course, my dog gets sick!  I got out of work early and rushed home to change so I could take Dolce out to to the dog park.  We get to the dog park shes running around with her friends and having a blast and all of a sudden she just stops and gets violently ill (that is the nicest way I can put it) but she seems unphased so I just let her play.  The following picture is literally her two seconds after getting sick...just chewing away like nothing happened!

About an hour later we get home and keep playing and have dinner and she is acting totally normal and fine and then boom she gets sick again, and again.  So I call the vet.  And of course it's a Friday and its a holiday weekend so the vet is not open!  But she is clearly ill so I know she needs to be seen by someone tonight.  Last resort...emergency vet.  So in a semi-panic I scoop her up and my roommate and I head out to the emergency room.  Two hours, $200 (Didn't I mention? Bought pet insurance which would cover emergency visits, but it didn't kick in for about 3 more days, typical!) and no real answers later they send us home with an anti-biotic and bland food to ease her "tummy issues".  And so we arrive at the following, Dolce laying on the couch tired from her illness and the vet's pokings and proddings.  It was a terrible 24 hours waiting to see if she'd get better and it broke my heart, but hopefully when it happens again (and I'm sure it will happen again) I'll be ready, cool, calm and collected.  But somehow I doubt it.
