Our First Water Experience

So a few short weeks after our little park sickness incident we went back and we were just hanging out on a hot summer day.  All the other dogs there were in this little brook that run s through the park cooling off and playing in the water.  So I decided I should bring Dolce on over!  She had exactly zero interest in that water at first.  She just stood on the edge of the water pawing at the mud, looking at the other dogs and then looking back up at me like, "Yea, whats the big deal?!"  Having foiled my attempts at cooling her off and her also making me look like a chump to all the other puppy parents around I promptly snatched her favorite toy and waded out to the middle.  And I just stood there looking at her.  First she tried to just walk away. But once I called her name and started squeaking her ball she changed her tune. She began to walk back and forth on the bank looking like she might step in to get to me, but no dice.  Finally a woman near her said, "Oh just do it already!" and gave her a little nudge toward the water.  She took her time slowly stepping in little by little. After a few moments she had made it out to me and she looked around and then just stood there.

She just had no idea what to do.  Had no desire to play with all the other dogs around her or even take her toy.  And still to this day when I put her in her baby pool to cool her off she looks at me like "What the heck is this and why do you keep putting me in it?!"and then she proceeds to drink from it like it is just a giant water dish. Loves the hose, but not any sort of standing water.  It's puzzling! So to sum up, Water-0 Dolce-1.  We're not giving up on her yet though! We're going to Fresh Pond this weekend, so hopefully some of the others will inspire her to swim! Updates to come!
